There is an extraordinary litany of misappropriations, misdeeds, and overreach, with jaw-dropping adverse consequences, directly due to AHPRA, Australia’s health-care regulator. Unfortunately, the National Act contains no statutory or regulatory consequences for wrongdoings by AHPRA, meaning that AHPRA is free to do what it wants to, how it wants to, and when it wants to. Furthermore, the Health Practitioners’ Ombudsman cannot enforce any findings it makes against AHPRA. This conference recording explores the mechanics of AHPRA’s failings, showcases some examples, and educates viewers about how to manage and address issues with AHPRA.
